The Darkwraiths were the first red orb invaders, and originators of a unique sword technique inspired by their thick, broad blades.
Skill: Stomp Use one's weight to lunge forward with a low stance and increased poise, and follow with strong attack for an upward slash.

The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat]. Durability : The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness.
When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk! Weight : How much the item weights when equipped. So my game glitch while i was in the smouldering lake, playing online and decided to kill myself. LMAO, shiiity sword for edgy emo kids who love to non-stop spamming R1 even though you noob ass casuls got owned all the time by parry.
May someone explain how sharp has a c in dex scaling, yet refined has a b? This is kinda bruh moment. If you wanna be the darkwraith number one, you have to chase the host of gonkers on the run Why is the dark sword hated in some parts of the community? It has very wide windows for counter, and has a fair AR range for its class. Pretty sure this weapon comes with innate lag to opponent.
Just R1 spam and get an almost guaranteed 4 hit combo without any skill. More skilled players can learn spacing to get better with this weapon. By spacing I mean getting a shield and walking backwards until the enemy is just in range, for you to attack, but they are not in range to attack and cannot parry, due to the innate lag bonus.
In fact they usually cannot roll either, because of the hit preceding the animation, due to innate lag status effect. I think it's worthy of noting that this is, correct me if I'm wrong, the only Straight Sword that can be worn on the back rather on the side in a sheathe; y'know, for all you Fashion Souls players try'na look nice. Petition to make dark dark sword a thing comment on this and say no for me to understand im dumb.

Morion Blade. Broken Straight Sword in right hand and Cleric's Candlestick in left hand.
Straight Swords are an overpowered weapon class, after all. Playing dark souls 3 with straight sword are op but my weapon is sellswordtwinblade.
Like yeah they are good and easy to use, but far from OP. No poise, average damage, average range, easy to parry, very boring to use. Swing speed is an upside, but curved swords are faster and harder to counter. Straight swords are easily spaced once you get the hitbox down, you can use hyperarmor to trade, there is a guaranteed setup parry if you block the 1st hit and parry the 2nd and shields reduce their damage to chip damage.
The 3 hit combo is good, but can be easily rolled if you time your roll. You mentioned that it has a 2 hit combo, which is redundant as EVERY r1 combos into another r1, be happy the r1 doesn't combo into an r2 or jump attack.
Literally, just having a noticable parry tool in your off hand will deter people from attacking as much because SSs are so easy to parry. If we're talking meta range, literally everything will kill you in 4 to 5 hits, only certain weapons can 3 shot you and not even the LKS, let alone the rest of the SS class, is able to.
Early game SSs don't do that much damage. If you're taking many, or even consecutive, hits then you need to work on that. Yeah: curved swords needed to be nerfed in all of this. Straight swords are just fine except dark sword. Mace is a joke compared to this good karma that maces are a counter to this plague.
Pure strength, offhand greatshield, best strait sword with heavy gem? Open to suggestions. Now if they could just nerf the crazy phantom range and that stance that for some reasons has perseverance in it while nothing says it Hi, which straight sword is best for a general strength build to one hand with?

Therefore, please do your own research before committing to any one build. I have seen countless "Best weapon" threads around the internet, and all of them were pretty inconclusive, so I decided to take it upon myself to find out what the REAL best weapon is.
After HOURS of calculations, testing, and speed runs, I understood why these treads were inconclusive; the weapons are way too different from one another to even compare them.
The Best Weapons In 'Dark Souls 3'
But, I still didnt give up. I divided the weapons in different categories according to their speed and damage. If anything, use this little "guide" to know what weapons to look out for as you play. In both of these cases, damage calculations were done using max stats All stats If you are reading this BEFORE building your character then take into consideration that after 30 each stat gives horrible returns per level.
After 40 any increase to damage is almost nonexistent unless you buy like 20 levels at a time. So I wouldn't consider raising any of these stats beyond 40 unless you're going for a max level character. Throughout this block of text you will realize that I mention some weapons before showing their stats. For example for the piercing weapons, the Estoc owns all the other upgradable piercing weapons by a long shot, So I didn't even consider the others.
Final Note: Notice that I did not take into consideration enemy defenses in this guide, which is something you should do.
If you are using a weapon with 2 types of damage refer to example above. I don't think many people actually USE daggers, but for the sake of completition, I'll Include them as well. There are only 3 upgradable daggers in the game, and the Parrying Dagger has a significantly lower damage, while the Dagger and the Bandit's Knife have the exact same damage.
The only difference is that the Bandit's knife has a higher Critical Stat vs Because of this I won't include the name of the weapon in this section since it should be the Bandit's knife for most if not all. They all have more or less the same speed Katanas are a tad slower and Curved Swords are a tad faster, but it's close enough toput them together.
Piercing Swords are faster, but weaker and most of them are purely thrust. Since we are including so many different weapons, I will put 3 different ones if the damages are really close.
For newer players, the broadsword is the easiest to get, so consider it as well. The Battle Axe totally owns this category The Estoc, being the fastest but the weakest will not be included because the difference in damage is way too large. Personally, my favorite category. These are weapons that are larger than normal weapons Player usually carries them over the shoulder but are faster that Ultra large weapons. These include some greatswords and all curved greatswords.Straight Swords are one of the weapon types in Dark Souls.
As the standard type of sword - straight swords are great all-around weapons that have good reach and power. Not all details will fit in this table. Although the swing speed is slower, the additional range makes up for it and Straight Swords are a great choice for attacking multiple opponents with one fast swing motion.
Higher base physical damage balances out lesser Dexterity Scaling and Critical. Straight Swords are an ideal weapon for those wanting to make a balanced build for attack rating and speed. Purchase from Shiva. Sign In Help Sign Out. Toggle navigation.

The one you find just outside Iedux Gundyr is just broken. Originally posted by Washing Machine :. Leb View Profile View Posts.
Pretty much every ss is good. Astora is probs the worst of the lot since it gets crap scaling and its raw infusion got nerfed but it still has a good moveset. Broken ss is hardly a 'sword' so I'm not including it XD So outside of those two just pick one that you like the moveset of and level stats and infuse if you can accordingly.
Yallus View Profile View Posts. Long Sword with min stats, Lothric Knight Sword with a proper physical build. Originally posted by SkipperSW :. Jooce View Profile View Posts. None of them. Originally posted by Jooce :. Long sword if you don't plan on investing too much into it. I find Dark Lothric to be better because of the stance and the chip damage through shields.
Anyone can kill everyone with a longsword. I am all for the Lothric knight sword, though that is primarily due to the moveset. EDIT: I don't really use straight swords lately though.Finding the best weapon in Dark Souls is tricky - there is no single 'best', but there are plenty of standouts - particularly the Zweihander, Balder Side Sword and Uchigatana - that you will want to consider when playing the game.
Some of these can be acquired early, and give you an advantage, if you want to run that weapon for the duration of the game. There are also boss weaponstoo, you can craft from certain defeated enemies. If you're looking for more help, our Dark Souls walkthrough and guide can help with all other areas of the game, including the dreaded Taurus DemonCapra DemonOrnstein and Smough bosses.
Here are four recommended weapons to aim for in Dark Souls, where to find them and their requirements. Be wary of the latter throughout the game, though - weapons with absurdly high stat requirements are often less effective than you think, and can actually top out lower than you expect.
In addition to this, the weapon upgrades can also vary, so be sure to pick a weapon that fits well with your build, and also one that scales to your stats. The Zweihander can be attained very early on in the game, and is a very potent weapon due to the sheer amount of damage that you will be able to do from early on. With a slow swing, the Zweihander might seem like it's not a versatile weapon, however where it shines is the sheer raw damage, in addition to being able to poise-break most enemies in the game.
For certain bosses, you can even interrupt attacks by swinging the Zweihander. Just be aware - if you want to run with this weapon, you will need a lot of endurance, as managing dodges in addition to the swings can take a heavy toll on you.
The Balder Side Sword is an exceptional straight sword, and ideal for dexterity-focused builds. Getting the drop on the sword can be difficult as it's a pretty rare find, however the moveset more than makes up for any pain you will have farming for this weapon.
Each strike can be followed up by pretty much any other attack, and the long range of this sword will make it great for fighting enemies at a distance. In addition to this, upon upgrading it fully, you will get Dexterity scaling to A, which means that you will be able to dish out a bit more damage. This is, by our standards the best straight-sword in the game, as you can also poise-break with the two-handed light attack, which comes out incredibly quickly. The Uchigatana is one of the fastest weapons in the game, with an incredibly versatile moveset, long-range and ability to cause bleed damage on enemies, which if you hit in quick succession, should be able to dish out a fair amount of damage.
The Uchigatana is excellent for 'Quality' builds that want to go for pure Dexterity, as it scales to A. One thing to be aware of with the Uchigatana is that it is fairly fragile, and need repairs slightly more often than the average weapon. This weapon also has another addition of having a pretty wide hit-range, meaning you will also be able to reach enemies from afar, especially if you two-hand it. If you're insistent on getting or making a boss weapon, you should be able to make it using a Boss Soul- so don't pop them for souls as soon as you get them!
We've assembled a complete list of boss weapons, craftable from Boss Souls and how to get them.
